Uncover the Subculture of Hong Kong's Sham Shui Po District
A clash of old and new through the lens of artist Jerry Wong.
New Balance and HYPEBEAST return with a new ‘The Local’ installment featuring the new 247 Tritium Pack. This time around, we voyaged to Hong Kong and linked up with art director/DJ Jerry Wong who toured us through the engrossing subculture of Sham Shui Po. Revealing market stalls, an abundant amount of sneakers vendors, and handcrafted goods, Wong uncovers the best vintage finds mixed with consignment deals for the avid thrifter especially when it comes to electronic equipment. “It’s like you are digging for buried treasure,” exclaims Wong.
The Hong Kong-based art director trekked through the streets styled in the sleek 247 Tritium Pack in the Cool Gray 9 colorway and Primary Pantone 380 C accent as he exposed us to the “warmness and rawness” of this hidden neighborhood. Inspired by the Roller technology, the new 247 iteration boasts an upper grey mixed with fabrics of nubuck, suede, and mesh, completed with a REVlite sole which provides optimal on-the-go ground absorption.
Watch the ‘The Local’ video and learn more about the 247 Tritium Pack at retailers worldwide and the official New Balance official site for $90 USD.
