Wales Bonner Builds Explorations of Black Identity for SS19
Accessing India-influenced spiritual inspiration.
Titled, “Ecstatic Recital,” Grace Wales Bonner’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection builds on her explorations of black identity, with a slight departure that that ventures into Indian-influenced culture. “I accessed India through African-American artists,” Wales Bonner told Vogue’s Sarah Mower.
In addition to Wales Bonner’s distinguished tailoring, the collection introduces more casual jersey pieces and yoga pants. Wales Bonner also returns to including womenswear looks, which were absent from her last collection.
