Millie Bobby Brown Addresses Bullies in Her MTV Awards Speech
Addressing young people and adults.
Following the deactivation of her Twitter as a result of being the focus of a homophobic meme, actress Millie Bobby Brown addressed the situation while accepting her MTV Award. Brown won Best Performance in a Show in Stranger Things as Eleven. And while she couldn’t be there in person to accept it, she shared the video above instead.
In the video, Brown is holding the award, thanking the countless people who made it all possible before focusing on the issue of bullying, stating: “Finally, since I know that there are many young people watching this — and even to the adults, too — they could probably use the reminder that I was taught, if you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say it.”
She continued by saying, “There should be no space in this world for bullying, and I’m not going to tolerate it. And neither should any of you. If you need a reminder of how worthy you are, and to rise above the hate, message me on Instagram.”
