JW Anderson’s $1,330 USD Crewneck Is an Optical Illusion

Last February, JW Anderson astounded guests at his namesake label’s Fall/Winter 2018 runway show with models dressed in an unconventional array of co-ed garments. One of the more eye-catching items in the range is the British designer’s Blue & Black Trompe L’Oeil crewneck sweatshirt (Trompe L’Oeil is the French phrase for “Optical Illusion”). The whimsical wool top boasts a large visual of a button-down shirt on the front portion with multicolored appliqués serving as the shirt’s tie and sleeve banner. Rounding out the design are tonal stitching and rib knit details for added contrast.
