Juun.J is no stranger to a wide silhouette — Spring/Summer 2019 is packed with them. Offering plenty of beefy cargo jackets and translucent nylon coats, the collection, “Alternative,” centers around maximum volume garments accented with bold colors and patterns.
With hefty running sneakers and slim heels balancing the weighty silhouettes, the designer piles oversized shirting and baggy blazers onto his models, encumbering men and women with broad-shouldered jackets, double-layered hoodies and calf-length mac coats. Giant tracksuits complement other revised sportswear, which includes Juun.J’s signature bomber jackets — with such gargantuan pieces, a tonal cable-knit sweater is able to easily slot in alongside the other blown-out looks. Loose pleated skirts, with cut-out portions for extra drape, are joined by comparatively trim track pants and elastic-hemmed suit pants, the latter of which match a host of houndstooth and plaid blazers, making for suits that are neither entirely sporty nor refined. Long white or ombre shirts features other shirts sewn onto their rears, or they’re sliced and rearranged into skirts, with a phrase — “ALTERNATIVE PATHS OFTEN LEAD TO BEAUTIFUL DESTINATIONS — diced into word salad.
