Idris Elba Premieres "Spectacle," The First Single off His 'Hiatus' Project
There’s even a possible music video coming soon.

You probably know Idris Elba as Stringer Bell from The Wire, Heimdall from Thor or DCI John Luther from Luther. It’s less likely, however, that you know him for his musical output. But, unbeknownst to many, the man known as Big Driis has always harbored a passion for music. Lest we forget, Idris remixed Skepta’s worldwide hit, “Shutdown,” back in 2015 and he even contributed two remixes to the Jungle Book soundtrack.
Elba is a massive fan of UK house, garage and bass. His latest project, titled Hiatus, shows off the depth and breadth of his electronic music knowledge and acumen. The project’s first offering, “Spectacle,” was produced over the span of a long weekend and features Shere Khan growling grittily over a thumping tribal beat. Elba then made the hand-off to none other than legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ and producer Pete Tong, who flipped it into a club-ready house banger. DJ Dris even took to Twitter to tease what appears to be a music video for the brand new cut.
Is this the summer of Driis? Let us know what you think of the star’s musical project in the comments below.
