Vintage Rolex Submariner Sells for Over $1 Million USD
Snapped up at Christie’s New York auction.

Christie’s recently held “An Evening of Exceptional Watches” auction in New York City, having sold over $7 million USD in watches. The highlight of the sale goes to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner from 1956. The vintage watch sold for over $1 million USD, making it one of the most expensive Submariner watches to be sold at auction. The precious item is equipped with an automatic caliber 1030, a black dial with Arabic numerals, and the original NATO strap. The watch belonged to a travel aficionado who initially purchased the watch for 100 Canadian dollars back in the 1950s.
Another coveted example would be Steve McQueen’s 5513, which is estimated to fetch from $300-600,000 USD in October of 2018. Head over to Christie’s official website to learn more.
