The First Trailer for 'Transformers' Spinoff 'Bumblebee' Is Here
Set 20 years before the original ‘Transformers’ film.
The first trailer for Bumblebee is here, a direct spinoff prequel to the Transformers films from director Michael Bay. The film takes place in 1987, about 20 years before the events of the original Transformers movie starring Shia LaBeouf. Mainstay characters of the franchise like Megatron and Optimus Prime are not present, but it appears Starscream will be making an appearance.
The plot for Bumblebee is likely to play out similarly to his arc in the original movie: meeting a human teenager and forming a quick friendship due to his robotic charm. In the trailer, we see a worn and torn Bumblebee meeting a Californian girl named Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) before we subsequently learn he’s being hunted by the government. It also appears the robot will have a love interest in the form of Charlie, but this has yet to be confirmed.
