Young brand SANCT aims to make a name for itself with its debut thesis collection. The range of menswear was patterned, sewn and detailed by designer AJ Li, who describes the range as “a statement that it is okay to not completely fit into one culture or another … it is important to choose elements of each in order to create your own … identity.” Encompassing a selection of revised workwear gear, the range includes hardwearing textiles, like denim, wool and corduroy, cut into oversized silhouettes and bolstered by tough hardware. A massive denim jacket boasts a wax coating and hand-embroidered detailing, while a down coat features raw hems and Chinese characters patterned into the back. Sashiko stitching, screen-printed flowers, adjustable straps and more embroidery elevate further modernize the sturdy silhouettes, while a tote bag repurposed from a vintage military tent reinforces the culture-blending motif.
