Big Boi Announces an OutKast Biopic Is in the Works
Ice Cube’s son a frontrunner to play Big Boi.

The story behind one of hip-hop’s greatest acts is coming to the silver screen. Currently promoting his third studio album Boomiverse, Big Boi revealed plans for a new Outkast biopic during a Q&A session with HipHopDX. “Me and [Andre 3000] just spoke about it last week when I was in New York,” Big Boi tells HHDX. “I think he might have been taking a couple meetings talking to people and then I got a couple of people in mind that I’ma talk to, one of them being Lee Daniels who I just did the TV show Star with so yeah all that’s coming and we just know it’s time to do it. It’s coming!” The down-South legend even shared his thoughts on the actor best suited to play him in the film, looking to Ice Cube’s sons for his pick. “They look exactly like me and they know all the words to all the raps so they probably could pull it off.”
While news of an OutKast biopic is a huge deal, Big Boi has been focusing on supporting the followup to 2012’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, Boomiverse. Last month, Big Boi collaborated with Jeezy, Killer Mike and Adam Levine for two new singles.
