Nike has teamed up with the University of Georgia, OutKast and Class Trip on the “OutKast U” collection, a limited-edition run of apparel and on-field gear celebrating the first Georgia vs Florida football game ever held in Atlanta. Drawn directly from the personal style of André 3000 and Big Boi, the collection brings the Bulldogs’ iconography and Atlanta’s most influential hip-hop duo together under one crest.
The timing gives the collection its hook. On October 31, Georgia and Florida will face off in Atlanta for the first time in the rivalry’s history, moving the matchup north from Jacksonville, where it has been played since 1933. For Class Trip, the link between the two worlds came naturally. “This started over lunch with André,” said Brian Francis, Founder of Class Trip. “He was telling stories about driving up to Athens to watch the Dawgs. Then we saw Georgia vs Florida was headed to Atlanta for the first time ever. Georgia’s football and its music, together in the city that made OutKast. They put Atlanta on the map. This is our thank you.”
Nike and Class Trip built the range by pulling references from André 3000 and Big Boi’s wardrobes over the years, working closely with both the OutKast and University of Georgia teams. The result is a single hybrid mark, the Georgia G topped with OutKast’s signature crown, which appears throughout the collection alongside a script reading “University of Georgia, OutKast 1996.” The number 96 is printed on every jersey, a nod to the year OutKast dropped ATLiens and a young Kirby Smart was playing safety for Georgia. “We wanted to create something as timeless as their music,” said Jon Tietz, Creative Director of Class Trip. “Think of the ‘Roses’ video. André and Big Boi, two crews, two completely different styles, same school. The yin and the yang. Every piece had to feel like it walked right out of that hallway.”
The red wool varsity jacket leads the lineup, finished with black leather sleeves, chenille patches and chain-stitch embroidery, with “Georgia” and “OutKast” spelled out across the back. Football jerseys are offered in two builds, a cropped mesh practice cut and a heavyweight cotton retro version, both carrying “96” and “OutKast” across the shoulders. Rugby shirts pair a white chest stripe with red and black hoops, giving the collection a collegiate layer beyond game-day jerseys.
The rest of the range fills out the wardrobe with a satin bomber, a heavyweight fleece hoodie and Max90 heavyweight graphic T-shirts. Hand-drawn pieces inspired by senior cords add a more personal touch, with graphics including “So Fresh, So Clean” referencing the duo’s 2000 single. Headwear includes cord caps in Georgia script, a snapback and bucket hats.
For the game itself, Nike created performance equipment and premium sideline apparel available only to Georgia’s athletes, coaches and staff. Eye-shield decals and skullcaps bear the Georgia and OutKast crown graphics along with “So Fresh” and “So Clean” treatments, while wristbands, mouthguards and three glove styles carry the collaboration onto the field.
The campaign was shot in Athens over the summer with six Nike NIL athletes: cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, safety KJ Bolden, linebacker Chris Cole, tight ends Kaiden Prothro and Elyiss Williams, and wide receiver Talyn Taylor. Together, they recreated familiar images from OutKast’s photo archive, tying the collection back to the moment in 1995 when André 3000 told a skeptical New York crowd that the South had something to say.
The “OutKast U” collection launches October 27 via SNKRS, Class Trip and select Nike retail partners in Atlanta, followed by the full collection on October 28 via Nike and select retail locations. A game-day pop-up will also open at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on October 31.
