Kanye West Crowned Webby Awards' Artist of the Year for 2016

The Webby Awards have officially announced that Kanye West accept the Artist of the Year for 2016. With West’s digital achievements being the foundation of the reasoning of this year’s recognition, Kanye will be appreciated as a powerful and influential figure in the music industry. Constantly altering the methods of how music is revealed, shared and consumed, ‘Ye kicked things off by selling out Madison Square Garden for his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show which also debuted his latest album The Life of Pablo.
As a result of the previously mentioned Yeezy frenzy, the Chicago native helped shoot TIDAL’s streaming service to the top of iTunes App Store charts which would then command the attention of social media users worldwide to a halt as West would keep followers on edge up to the project’s official release.
In addition to aforementioned feats, West has also managed to keep a firm grasp on fashion with spontaneous releases such as NYC’s ‘Pablo’ Pop-Up and his ode to Kobe Bryant. Moving forward, Kanye West is currently aiming to tour in September which will further cement 2016 as the year of Pablo.
