Back in February, Frank Ocean was sued by his father Calvin Cooksey for $14.5 million USD. The lawsuit accused Frank of libel/defamation after the artist took to Tumblr and revealed his father called a transgender waitress a “f****t” when he was a child, as a response to the Orlando nightclub shooting incident. In a detailed complaint, Cooksey said that Ocean made these claims in order to help promote his new album Blonde.

Today, Ocean responds to his father’s lawsuit. Ocean says that his statements are true and denied the validity of his father’s claims, saying that they are subjective hence not valid for a libel claim. According to TMZ, Frank wishes for the court to dismiss the case and is demanding his father to cover all of the legal fees. Check out Frank’s legal response in detail below.
