Drake is the King of the Billboard Charts
“One Dance” is a monster.
With Drake‘s fourth studio album VIEWS dominating headlines following its end-of-April release, Drake’s dominance of the Billboard charts should come as no surprise. Beyonce and Prince reigned supreme over the Billboard rankings in the previous week, but thanks to VIEWS, Drake is the unofficial king of the charts.
When it comes to the “Overall Popularity” grouping of Billboard’s list of charts, Drake’s name is at the top spot in pretty much category. As we reported earlier in the week, Drake’s “One Dance” became his first solo record to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. VIEWS is the number one album on the Billboard 200, and Drake himself takes the top spot on the Artist 100.
Outside of Billboard’s three most significant charts, “One Dance” also takes the top honors on Digital Songs, Streaming Songs, and On-Demand Songs. The album it supports, VIEWS, is No. 1 in the Top Album Sales and Digital Albums sections.
Elsewhere, Prince’s Purple Rain is No. 1 on the Catalog Albums and Tastemaker Albums, serving as further proof of Prince’s powerful posthumous popularity. Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” is No. 1 on Radio Songs, and Radiohead top the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart thanks to their first major single in several years, “Burn The Witch.”
In the R&B/Hip-Hop section, Beyonce’s Lemonade understandably remains at no. 1 in the R&B Albums section. However, everywhere else, Drake’s new album and its lead single run the show. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, Hot R&B Songs and R&B Streaming Songs all list Drake’s “One Dance” as their No. 1 record. VIEWS as a whole also takes the top spots on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Rap Albums. Still, Desiigner’s “Panda” remains at No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs and Rap Streaming Songs, making G.O.O.D. Music’s Brooklyn representative the only rapper who is truly challenging Drake on the charts right now.
