Cristiano Ronaldo Is Producing a New Drama for Facebook
Focusing on a high school girls soccer team.

After announcing plans to spend $1 billion USD on original content last year, Facebook has now recruited Real Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to produce a new drama series for the platform. The new series will be developed in partnership with the ex-ABC president Paul Lee, as well as the creators of Memphis Beat. The show will be centred around a high school girls soccer team from upstate New York, with a focus on both the team’s diversity and inspirational role in the local community.
Speaking about the new project, Cristiano Ronaldo explained that “the story of my life has many similarities with the highs and lows the girls varsity soccer team will face in the series” as well as adding that “while the series is set against the background of soccer, it goes much deeper than just the beautiful game. It’s about values, challenges, friendship, difficult times, hard work, solidarity, tensions, and harmony. In a word — it’s about life.” There’s no news on when the show will arrive, but expect it to land on Facebook Watch in the future.
