Fresh off new tracks with Sterling Hayes and Future, Chance the Rapper sets his sights on the silver screen for his next major venture; as Variety reports, the Chicago superstar has been tapped for a voice acting role in the forthcoming animated flick Trolls 2. Besides his voiceover contribution, Chance the Rapper will also create all-new, original music for the film’s official soundtrack. Besides Chance, Sam Rockwell, Anthony Ramos, Karan Soni, Jamie Dornan and Flula Borg have also been announced as new additions to the Trolls 2 lineup.
“We are thrilled to have these talented artists join the cast of Trolls 2. This film, like the first, gives our cast an opportunity to show their performance range — integrating comedy, adventure, and emotion with centerpiece musical numbers that resonate with fans across the globe,” DreamWorks Animation Film Group President Chris deFaria tells Variety. “This second film will be every bit as unique in design, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience the adventurous journey our filmmakers are taking Poppy, Branch and all of the Trolls on next.”
Trolls features Walt Dohrn and David P. Smith as directors, while Gina Shay serves as its producer. The film is set to hit theaters on April 10, 2020.
Late last month, Chance the Rapper joined G Herbo for the “Everything (Remix)” video.
