A day after making the announcement, John Mayer stays true to his word and releases “New Light,” which he co-produced with No. I.D. “But if you give me just one night/ You’re gonna see me in a new light,” Mayer sings on his new single. No I.D. — known for crafting hip-hop gems for Kanye West, Common, JAY-Z and Vince Staples — takes a surprise dip into the soft-rock world and it’s quite fantastic.
