As fans have finally had enough time to come to terms with the events of Avengers: Infinity War, directors and brothers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have been spoiling the Internet with a few insights. Just a few hours ago, they revealed what Groot’s last line was and confirmed fan theories on the Soul Stone.

SPOILERS LAY AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM

Now the Russo brothers have explained the reason for leaving Captain Marvel out of Infinity War. Though she was teased during the post-credit scene, the Russo brothers stated that they’re saving her until the fourth — and most likely — final Avengers film, which is slated to hit theaters in May of 2019. During a Happy Sad Confused podcast, both Anthony and Joe opened up about the film’s ending and Captain Marvel. “We want to save her reveal,” Joe said. “We also wanted to, it was very important to us to commit…we wanted to commit to this ending very hard. We didn’t want to go past the ending very much,” Anthony stated.

Joe continued, “We considered not doing any tags. Then we thought maybe it was too brutal. Everything’s about trying to find balance.” Anthony added, “She will be a part of the MCU at that point. And part of the promise of these movies is that they are a road forward for all the films.”

Brie Larson will star as Captain Marvel in the still unnamed Avengers 4 film, releasing tentatively on May 3, 2019. The standalone Captain Marvel film will release earlier on March 8, 2019.

In the meantime, catch up on the meaning behind Avengers: Infinity War‘s ending and themes.
