Alleging that the retailer made “blatant reproductions.”

Burberry has filed a lawsuit against Target and it focuses on the luxury houses iconic check pattern. The brand filed a trademark infringement and counterfeiting lawsuit against the retailer in New York federal court, stating that the latter had been selling products that are “blatant reproductions” of the house’s trademark check pattern.
The suit alleges that Burberry originally sent Target a cease-and-desist letter in early 2017 and this only led to more products bearing the check from the company, stating in the suit that the products were “superficially indistinguishable” from the British brand’s own products.
