'The First Purge' Draws Horrific Social Parallels in This New Trailer
Blumhouse takes the dystopian franchise back to the beginning.
If the teaser didn’t already draw social parallels with current events with its obvious “Make America Great Again” connection, the new trailer for The First Purge definitely will. The First Purge is a prequel story of how “the purge,” and having all crime legal for one night, came to be.
This time around, Gerard McMurry sits in the director’s chair as the film stars the likes of Marisa Tomei, Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis and more. A government conspiracy is also highlighted, as the purge organizers watch citizens turn the event into a celebration before sending soldiers dressed like civilians to kill and get people purging.
The First Purge is set to hit theaters on July 4.
