Dr. Dre Is Part of LA2024, a Group Trying to Bring the Olympics to Los Angeles
One of Two musicians on a 117 person committee.
With the intention of beating Paris as the city to host the 2024 Olympics, LA2024 has been campaigning in favor of Los Angeles and strategically building a board of directors with the biggest names in sports, business, media and tech. Expected names on the list include Magic Johnson, Former NBA player Jason Collins, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, Clippers owner Steven Balmer and unsuspecting volleyball fan, Dr. Dre. Amongst the impressive 117-person board, Dre and opera singer Placido Domingo are the only musicians involved. Everyone has until September 13 to prepare their case, which will then be presented and decided upon by a panel in Lima, Peru.
