Watch Travel Oregon's Studio Ghibli-Esque New Advert
Imagine if ‘Spirited Away’ was set in Oregon?
Oregon’s Tourism Commission, also known as Travel Oregon, has looked to anime for inspiration in its latest advert, a short film entitled “Only Slightly Exaggerated.” The clip was created by Wieden+Kennedy, who joined forces with Psyop — creators of the Minecraft musical — and Sun Creature Studio, the latter company in charge of animation. Meanwhile the sounds were provided by the Oregon symphony.
The clip was designed to mimic some of Studio Ghibli’s most recognizable work — it looks very similar to the likes of Spirited Away — but it painstakingly recreates several Oregon landmarks such as the Three Sisters mountain range and the Portland Dragon Boat Race. In other Studio Ghibli news, the famous studio is set to launch a U.S. festival that will show several of its classic films.
