POLYTHENE* OPTICS Teases First Fall/Winter 2018 Collection
The label focuses on “crowd-based movement” and “accessibility.”

Towards the beginning of the year, A-COLD-WALL*’s Samuel Ross revealed plans to launch a new label known as POLYTHENE* OPTICS. Billed as A-COLD-WALL*’s “sister label,” POLYTHENE* OPTICS is about “re-aligning with” Samuel Ross and company’s original mission statement and building a creative movement with roots in “democratic design.” “The goal is to exist in multiple rooms of the fashion community,” Ross explained. “POLYTHENE OPTICS* forms a democratic conversation which is much needed.” Now, a teaser for POLYTHENE* OPTICS’ debut collection has surfaced.
A Fall/Winter 2018 offering, the first POLYTHENE* OPTICS shots were put together by a trio of London-based photographers — Ollie Webb, Jack Harper Donlon and Stephane Yu — and billed as a sort of tribute to local London youth culture. The POLYTHENE* OPTICS crew aims to bring “crowd-based movement and accessibility” to fashion, hoping to further connect consumers on a more “tangible” level. With the label’s first drop, the photographers have focused on the collection’s “coarse graphic nature” and Samuel Ross’ ideological convictions to bring the aforementioned vision to life.
