India-based architecture firm Spasm Design has created the House with the Rock to accentuate the building’s rural location. The house is almost entirely surrounded by glass, framing the panorama views and the sunsets from its hilltop location in the Indian plains.
Arguably the standout feature of the building is the four-ton rock that sits atop a long cantilever and lends its name to the house. According to the architects this feature was added to give the emotion “of liberation, of expanse,” a theme which runs throughout the design of the house. Elsewhere, the house features a number of different terraces — including one with a large pool — which are all designed to frame the view from the hilltop location.
