LA Underground King Fritsgod Drops Sinister "Red Limousine" Video
A moody, melancholic new single.
As the SoundCloud rap scene continues to evolve beyond its Lil Yachty-, Playboi Carti- and Bones-guided origins, rising Inglewood rapper Fritsgod is emerging as one of his region’s more forward-thinking underground champions. To further cement his authoritative spot in Los Angeles’ current rap scene, the “Vampire from the Void” is planning to drop a new project in the future. Building anticipation for that effort, Fritsgod serves up a new video for his strongest single yet, the Eem Triplin-produced “Red Limousine.”
“I can’t feel a thing when I be off the lean / Dancing with the devil in a limousine,” Frits hazily spits through a codeine-coated filter, employing a sing-song flow to deliver his record’s hook. “Don’t you lie to me, I came here with a beam / I can give you everything you wanna be / Baby, roll me with, you wanna live like me.” In other verses, Frits sounds like he’s about to fall into a drug-induced coma. “Bottles after bottles, I ain’t tryna wake up / Lay me down, lay me down / Come a little closer, baby, I might turn to dust / In the city where the demons make love ./ In the city where the demons hate us / Wake up, wake up / Don’t you be a hero, baby, you can’t save us.” Sonically, “Red Limousine” sounds like an 808s & Heartbreaks deep cut made during a particularly-intense comedown — if Kanye had stocked his Honolulu and Burbank studios with Soundcloud’s new-school prophets.
Directed by Dylan Hamlett, Fritsgod’s “Red Limousine” video is available for viewing above.
