This Biological Chair Won the Best Product at Stockholm Furniture Fair
Ultralight and super strong.
Japanese designer Jin Kuramoto created a 100% biological flax fiber chair, dubbed the “JIN” chair, for Swedish manufacturer OFFECCT, which was awarded the Editor’s Choice for Best Product at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.
The chair is the result of a long study in unconventional materials and organic construction, geared towards pushing the envelope of sustainable design in the furniture industry. The body of the “JIN” chair is formed by shaping thin layers of flax fibers on top of each other, creating a strong shell around a core of air. The resulting product is both extremely lightweight and highly durable.
