Jazz Cartier Explores Venice's Darkest Corners for "Opera" Video
Phantom of the Opera.

Jazz Cartier always has to do things on a cinematic, grand scale. A few weeks after the early February release of his sophomore project Hotel Paranoia, Cartier serves up the first official video in support of the album. Turning his sights back towards one of the LP’s initial singles, the rising Toronto rapper delivers a vignette for “Opera.” The clip is directed and produced by previous visual collaborator Kyle Sanderson, who shot the piece in Venice. Speaking on today’s release to FADER, Cartier says:
“The concept of the video carries the theme of paranoia—a nightmare I couldn’t really piece together, that haunted me for days. We shot this video in Venice because, well, why not. I wanted the video to be more scenery than about me. The aesthetic of Venice fit the mood and overall direction. We finessed our way into the La Fenice Opera House on the last day, which I still can’t believe.”
