Andre 3000 Says Young Thug & Future are "Charging Up the Rap Game"
“I can hear they’re just going, it’s like the first thing that comes to mind. Even if it’s just about drinking, smoking and girls. It’s pure though.”
Andre 3000 has nothing but positive things to say about fellow ATLiens Young Thug and Future. We already know how fond he is of Kid Cudi’s last project, but you can now add Atlanta’s two biggest modern stars to the list of rappers the Outkast legend believes are having an impact on the game. “Thug is charging up the rap game, Young Thug. Future is charging up the rap game. These are people I listen to,” Andre 3000 states in a rare, new interview with Kidd Kraddick’s radio program. Explaining the some of the reasoning behind his appreciation for the aforementioned rappers, he boils it down to their unorthodox, unique way of creating music. “I think you can’t work at being a better freestyler — I’m not a good freestyler. I think it’s a confidence thing and an overthinking thing. You gotta just let your mind free. Actually, that’s the greatest asset to rappers now. They actually freestyle most of those verses. They don’t write. They laugh at us when we write.” Continuing, 3 Stacks also addresses the pair’s perceived lack of ”deeper” lyrical content and elaborates on why he supports their creative process of freestyling, “I can hear they’re just going, it’s like the first thing that comes to mind. Even if it’s just about drinking, smoking and girls. It’s pure though.” You can check out the full exchange below.
