Amir Obe Signs to Def Jam, Shares "No Peace" Video
His debut album is scheduled to drop next year.
Amir Obe has returned with a brand new visual for “No Peace.” The Detroit-born, Brooklyn-based rapper-singer took to Twitter to announce earlier today that he had signed a deal with Def Jam. He shares with Billboard: “To contribute to a legacy & brand that has created history with some of my favorite artists is a blessing. Def Jam prides itself on authenticity & I couldn’t have found a better home.” The crooner is set to release his debut album through the label in 2017.
To celebrate the milestone, he dropped the video for his song “No Peace.” The visual transitions between shots of Obe perambulating around the city’s dark streets to anime clips. On the visual, Amir shares: “I wanted to capture the vibe of “No Peace” visually, and I think we executed providing a journey, a sense of no looking back. We kept it minimal to allow you, the viewer to create your own narrative.” The record will appear on Def Jam’s forthcoming compilation album Direct Deposit Vol 1, which will feature Drake, Pusha T, Desiigner, YG and more.
