Apple Rumored to Launch Its First 5G iPhone in 2020
Postponing a 2019 release due to overheating modem chips.

Apple is reportedly postponing the launch of its first 5G iPhone to 2020, as per Fast Company. The tech giant was expected to debut its 5G smartphone in 2019, but has apparently been “unhappy” with its chip provider, Intel.
Apple was initially using Intel’s 8060 modem chip for its 5G prototypes, but came across “heat dissipation issues” that made the device too hot, damaging its battery life. Apple now plans to use Intel’s 8161 5G modem chip, which has a 10-nanometer process that increases transistor density for more speed and efficiency. This, however, means Apple will be arriving slightly later to the 5G network service.
Earlier this week, Apple unveiled its new MacBook Air with Retina display.
