The Zwavelpoort Conservatory, designed by architect Nadine Engelbrecht, is a stunning steel and glass private residence located outside the city of Pretoria in South Africa. The modern home is built atop a sloped grassland and defined by expansive, light-filled spaces that fuse with the natural landscape.
The structure is surrounded by 85-acres of farmland and features three sections — a single-story main living quarter and kitchen; a conservatory lounge located in the center with glazed panels and automated windows that transform the room into an open-air pavilion; and a two-story guest suite with a red brick façade and floor-to-ceiling windows. The conservatory lounge features a glass floor that gives a glimpse of a subterranean wine cellar, accessible by a hidden door, while each of the bedrooms features a large balcony that looks upon the Magaliesberg range.
