Watch Kid Cudi Break Down His Biggest Songs
From “Cudi Montage” to “All of the Lights.”
With a new project in the works, Kid Cudi links up with GQ to discuss the “most iconic tracks” of his career. Notably, the 34-year-old superstar gives a breakdown of songs like “Reborn,” “Cudi Montage,” “Father Stretch My Hands” and “All of the Lights.”
“‘All of the Lights,’ we were working on in LA. It was a lot of people in the studio this day I was recording,” Cudi says, explaining the back-story behind the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy mega-hit. “It was so much going on when I was recording my vocals … I really had no clue I was going to be used, there was so many people that he had already recorded for the song. That came out and it was another surprise, like ‘holy shit.’ Then we did the music video with Hype Williams and it was the illest … to be on a song with Rihanna, I was really pumped about that … to just be in the room and be on a song with all these amazing artists is a blessing.”
