Watch a Tesla Model X Save a Semi-Truck Stuck in Snow
Thanks to the model’s intuitive torque vectoring.
The current “bomb cyclone” snowstorm hitting the east coast has left many drivers stranded on roads as hurling snow and frigid temperatures have created less than favorable traffic conditions. Although it’s not uncommon for those stranded to call for help, when the driver of a semi-truck in North Carolina found himself stuck on a snowy hill, the only help he was able to receive was from a much smaller Tesla Model X.
But despite the 5,000-pound towing capacity of the all-electric luxury SUV, the Model X easily pulled the semi from its icy predicament. Elon Musk’s Model X was able to impressively drag the one tractor-trailer thanks to a state of the art dual electric motor setup connected to a software-controlled torque vectoring system. Working in unison the electric motors and vectoring system gave the Model X in the video optimal traction for the road condition and towing load.
