Remember when Jay Z made headlines two years ago for releasing a new cologne? Well, it looks like Hov’s got “99 Problems” and the ‘Gold’ cologne company is one of them. The company is alleging Jay Z hasn’t been holding up his part of the deal, which were mainly public appearances, failing to show up on several public outings including Good Morning America, a cover story with Women’s Wear Daily and “rejected five prototypes for an 18-carat gold capped bottle designed by Jacob the Jeweler for a customer contests.” It should be noted, Hov’s cologne was the best-selling celebrity fragrance in 2014 and Perfumania Holdings Inc. were forcasting sales of $35 million in 2015, instead, only brought in roughly $6 million and Perfumania Holdings Inc. claims it’s because Jay wasn’t properly promoting the fragrance. As it stands, Perfumania wants Jay Z to return the $2 million he’s already received in royalties and an additional $16 million in damages for not holding up his side of the deal.
