HBX‘s latest editorial highlights LA-based streetwear label PLEASURES‘s Fall/Winter 2017 collection. Tapping creative director Alex James’s affiliation with ’80s and ’90s hardcore punk, PLEASURES’s latest range – appropriately dubbed “From the Cradle to the Grave” – is an onslaught of graphic T-shirts, long-sleeves, hoodies and baseball caps.

Sift through the editorial above then scroll down for some highlights from HBX’s recent interview with Alex.

When you were growing up you were put into the hardcore punk scene, taking influences from film, music and so on. The collection this time around seems to be coming from a spiritual place. What inspired this collection, and what inspires you most of the time?

This collection is more about the circle of life. The progression from birth to after death and everything in-between.

The sunflower seems to be a recurring graphic throughout the collections. Is there a backstory that you could shed some light on for this?

Sunflowers symbolize joy and happiness. The world is in peril right now; we are trying to create graphics with some positivity.

What does the future hold for PLEASURES?

We are presenting a special collection along with a visual presentation at Innersect show in Shanghai. Shouts to Edison Chen for the support!! We are also launching “ PLEASURES Audio”, a new platform where we work with artists to present their passion music projects. There’s a ton of other things as well but I can’t really discuss. Stay tuned.

You can shop the entire collection over at HBX, priced from $34 USD – $89 USD.
