L’HOMME ROUGE's 2018 Spring/Summer Campaign Highlights Romantic Menswear
This summer’s International Woolmark Prize winner.
L’HOMME ROUGE was this summer’s award recipient for the International Woolmark Prize in Europe. For its 2018 spring/summer collection dubbed Jante’s Playhouse, the fledgling line has fully mastered the art of romantic menswear. This is highlighted in its loose cuts, draped fabrics and neutral hues of black, beige and sky blues. The sparse use of graphics also signifies a not-so-slight departure from today’s trends, yet it’s adding artwork as a way to complement the precise construction and subtle tones.
Additionally, according to the design house about its Jante’s Playhouse reference:
The theatrical craziness and the everyday dullness that blends in the photographer Lars Thunbjörk’s legacy is significant for SS18 “Jante’s Playhouse. His style of photography with its well-documented darkness and rather comic characteristics captures the essence of the Swedish Jante and its — in some sense — twisted nature. The L’HOMME ROUGE interpretation of this subject is presented through re-worked conservative men’s clothing and power symbols that have been put in unfamiliar and new context.
