MUJI to Open Its First Hotel in 2019
All MUJI everything.

Earlier this year, Ryohin Keikaku, more famously known as MUJI, announced that it will be opening a MUJI Hotel in both Shenzhen and Beijing, which are expected to be complete by the end of this year. Now, the company is set to launch its first domestic hotel and new global flagship store in Tokyo‘s Ginza district in the spring of 2019.
Construction began in mid-June on land that previously housed the Ginza branch of Tokyo’s Electric Power Company and other lots. The store, destined for a tree-lined, two-minute walk from the Tokyo Metro Ginza station, will span more than 3,300 square meters, surpassing the current largest MUJI location in nearby Yurakucho. The 10-story building will host both the store and hotel, with seven floors (including the basement) occupied by the store while the rest will be devoted to the hotel.
To avoid competition between MUJI stores, the retailer plans to close the Yurakucho store when the lease expires. The number of guest rooms and rates have yet to be determined, but you can look forward to an extraordinary but minimalistic take on the interior design of the hotel.
