JAY-Z's '4:44' Album Has Officially Gone Platinum in a Week
He’s done it again.
JAY-Z‘s new 4:44 album was released less than a week ago on June 30 and as of today, the LP is officially certified platinum according to RIAA. Above is a photo of Hov being presented the platinum plaque by RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman. “Props to JAY, he’s done it again! Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career.” said Sherman in a press release.
JAY-Z currently holds the record as an artist with the most platinum album plaques in RIAA history, with 4:44 becoming the hip-hop mogul’s 13th platinum album plaque. He’s also currently the only rapper to have 10 or more platinum albums.
4:44‘s platinum certification follows 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail which became platinum on the day of its physical release, thanks to the new platinum and gold certification rule changes at RIAA back in 2016.
