Dr. Martens & Staple Design Slathered the 1461 Shoe With Pigeon Silhouettes
Never enough pigeons.
Design collective Staple Design is celebrating its 20th birthday with a Dr. Martens collaboration. The reworked 1461 3-eye shoe features an all-over camouflage print, although the camo is made up entirely of Staple’s signature pigeon silhouettes rather than the traditional military pattern. To contrast against the black and grey upper, the shoe also features bright pink colorpops on the eyelets, back panel, heel-loop and sockliner. Jeff Staple, the head of Staple Design, explained his connection to the brand from his clubbing days in the early ’90s: “The act of me sneaking out and going to the city was my act of rebellion and my Dr. Martens were right there with me.” The collaborative 1461 shoes are available now from Staple’s web store for $125 USD, and will be dropping at Dr. Martens’ online store and select locations on June 17.
Dr. Martens has been working on another 1461 collaboration recently, with colette’s take on the silhouette dropping on June 21.
