Ryuk Is Front and Center in New Trailer for Netflix's 'Death Note'

“Shall we begin?”

For fans heavily anticipating a complete look of the Shinigami Ryuk himself, look no further than the latest trailer for Netflix‘s Death Note, directed by Adam Wingard.

The trailer shows Willem Dafoe channeling his inner Green Goblin to portray the creepy and mysterious Ryuk. The death god follows whoever finds the Death Note, a book that can kill anyone if you jot their name down in it, which our protagonist Light Yagami comes across. He then begins to use the book to commit murders of those he deems unworthy of life, getting on the eccentric detective L’s radar. Yagami, taking on the persona Kira, questions if he’s doing the right thing in the trailer, a heavy departure of the megalomaniacal Yagami from the anime and manga the film is based on.
