Aston Martin's Vulcan Gets an AMR Upgrade
The track-only creation offers a bevy of mods for better lap times.
The Aston Martin Vulcan is returning to the track following last year’s news of a street-legal makeover, getting a brand new package of AMR upgrades. Aptly dubbed the Vulcan AMR Pro, the latest version of the vehicle retains its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 (offering 820 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque), focusing instead on a bevy of aerodynamic modifications. Here, louvered panels above the front wheel arches help to reduce lift by extracting high-pressure air while an improved front splitter is joined by dive planes on the sides of the nose. In the back, a brand new wing makes use of gurney flaps throughout. The result of all the mods? Much improved downforce — from 3150Nm to 4000Nm — and balance along with better responsiveness and acceleration, all of which amount to even better lap times on the track. Says Aston Martin Racing works driver Darren Turner of the new Vulcan:
We worked hard to ensure it’s not a monster to drive, so it was important the AMR Pro upgrade remains true to that objective. By increasing the overall level of downforce front and rear, but also improving the balance of the car we’ve done just that. Together with the shortened gearing, which makes it even more punchy when you accelerate through the gears, the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro feels more agile and responsive to steering inputs.
The track-exclusive Vulcan AMR Pro is due out this fall.
