Watch This New Documentary About the Russian Streetwear Revolution
Looking at how Russia’s streetwear scene has gone on to influence global culture.
In recent years, Russia’s growing influence over global fashion has been inescapable. Led by Gosha Rubchinskiy, Cyrillic text has appeared in collections from all over the world and “post-Soviet” fashion has become more and more popular.
To look at this trend, a new documentary has been announced that will explore the origins and popularity of Russian streetwear. Street Spirit will feature 30 Russian streetwear brands from the late ’90s right up to the present day, and will look at how Russia’s street fashion scene has gone on to influence global culture and be adopted by everyone from Kanye West to A$AP Rocky.
