Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the GRAMMYs and, to celebrate, The Recording Academy is relocating the awards ceremony to New York City and tapping none other than Spike Lee, Q-Tip, and Grandmaster Flash to help make the announcement. The move will see the ceremony in Madison Square Garden, which last hosted the GRAMMYs in 2003 — the ceremony’s 45th anniversary.
“Playing host to the music industry’s marquee awards show is a unique creative, artistic and economic boon to the rich cultural fabric of our city,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. “We welcome the Grammy Awards back to New York City with open arms and we look forward to continuing to partner with a music industry that supports access and empowerment in the arts.”
Check out the announcement video above and look for the 60th annual GRAMMYs to hit MSG on January 28, 2018.
