BEAMS Drops a Mustard-Stained 2017 Spring/Summer Collection
There’s an interesting story behind the Mister Mort-designed capsule.

For Spring/Summer 2017, Japanese imprint BEAMS enlisted noted street style photography Mister Mort (Mordechai Rubinstein) for a collaborative capsule collection titled “Happy Accident.” Made in the USA, the range consists of a selection of pocket T-shirts, a coaches jacket, a dad hat, and various tops and bottoms — such as a pair of tiger stripe camo-print shorts and an OCBD (Oxford cloth button down) shirt — all with embroidered mustard stains.
When asked about the inspiration behind the mustard stain embroidery, Mister Mort had this “happy accident” story to share:
“I was at a barbecue with some friends at BEAMS in Brooklyn and my hamburger’s mustard dropped on my new Oxford shirt… The shirts and shorts are made in the USA using factories that are barely able to stay in business. everything has my mustard logo or mustard embroidery and I’m calling the collection ‘Happy Accident.’”
