Georges St-Pierre Will Make His Triumphant UFC Return to Fight Michael Bisping
One of the sport’s greatest is back!

Often noted as one of the sport’s greatest fighters, Georges St-Pierre will finally return to the UFC octagon to fight Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship later this year. The 35-year-old, three-time welterweight champion stepped away from MMA back in 2013 after successfully defending his title nine consecutive times between 2008 and 2013.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement on ESPN’s Sportscenter earlier on Wednesday, but admitted he was doubtful of GSP’s return.
He wanted to take a break. He wanted to take some time off from the sport. He’s been talking about coming back for a couple of years. Personally, I wasn’t a believer, but he and I got together in Las Vegas, had dinner and got a deal done.
I’m not a big believer in long layoffs. Even Muhammad Ali, after a long layoff, didn’t look the same. But [St-Pierre] is always in shape, he takes care of himself physically, and we’ll see what happens.
Although a date and venue have yet to be announced, St-Pierre and Bisping are scheduled to host a news conference later this week in Las Vegas, ahead UFC 209.
