BEAMS Puts a Clean Spin on the New Balance 998
Boston meets Tokyo.

Long the canvas for some of the brand’s best collaborations, New Balance is following up co-branded versions of the 998 from the likes of J.Crew, Todd Snyder, and Horween with yet another limited edition release. This time around, NB’s partner in crime is none other than Japan’s BEAMS. Building on the likes of the celebratory 1400 that dropped last year, this 998 puts a subtle spin on New Balance’s tried and true grey colorway and covers the mesh and suede construction in multiple hues while adding a dash of reflective 3M and a splash of blue to the mix. Besides co-braded footbeds, the collab sports tasteful tonal “BOSTON” and “TOKYO” embroidery along the heels of the left and right shoes, respectively, as a nod to NB’s roots and BEAMS’ own stomping grounds.
The BEAMS x New Balance 998 is due out March 31 in Japan.
