The 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards Nominees & Honorees Have Been Announced
One of these names might stir up some controversy.

Last year, the CFDA Fashion Awards earned Thom Browne and Marc Jacobs some distinctive, very impressive accolades. Now, after two hours of CFDA board deliberations at Bleecker Street and several weeks of voting, the nominees and honorees for the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards have been revealed. CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg took to the stage at Ramscale Studios this evening to announce the lineup for this year’s awards, distilling hours of discussion into one lean list.
Most notably, superstar designers and creative directors such as Raf Simons, Robert Geller, Thom Browne, Marc Jacobs, and Tim Coppens were chosen as nominees for the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year and Menswear Designer of the Year honors. After years of controversy and success, Virgil Abloh also received a nod from the CFDA, earning a spot on the shortlist for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent. After four CFDA Awards victories, the iconic Rick Owens will receive the prestigious Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
