Santa Cruz Tackles Apocalyptic Themes for Holiday 2017 "Atomic Peace" Collection
“Step away from the red button.”
Following a collaboration with Vans and Japanese artist Taya Hayashi, iconic skateboard imprint Santa Cruz serves up a new collection for the holiday season.
For its official Holiday 2017 capsule line, Santa Cruz serves up the politically-charged “Atomic Peace” collection. Originally created by Jim Phillips for Jeff Kendall’s skate series graphics, the original “Atomic Hands” design is employed for a large portion of Santa Cruz’s “Atomic Peace” drop, adding to the somber, apocalyptic themes of the clothing. “The threat of nuclear war is as relevant today as it was then. Step away from the red button,” reads an official statement.
Along with the new collection, Santa Cruz has also enlisted the brand’s own skater Justin Sommer for a brief skate video in support of the “Atomic Peace” effort. You can check out the aforementioned clip above, and head on over to Santa Cruz’s official website for more information on the clothes. A couple months ago, Santa Cruz also linked up with Nixon for a special collaborative collection.
