Kidult Vandalizes Philipp Plein's Paris FlagshipSurprisingly the designer is happy about it.
Adding to his series of high-profile graffiti defacings, Kidult recently vandalized Philipp Plein’s Paris flagship on Rue de Rivoli. A response to the designer’s recent collaboration with graffiti artist Alec Monopoly, the recent defacing is centered around the slogan “$ is the new religion.” Kidult applied a motif of the Monopoly Man on the facade of the store and utilized his signature haphazard spray technique to depict Rich Uncle Pennybags urinating dollar signs in reference to Alec Monopoly’s signature use of the character.
Like many designers that faced the artist wrath of Kidult, Philipp Plein tried to spin the situation diverting the original message and intention of the artist by removing the Monopoly Man. The designer took to Instagram to post a photo of the store’s graffitied windows expressing he enjoyed the new look thanking “Paris’ grafitti gang.”
