ALMOSTBLACK Debuts Zippered and Strapped Spring/Summer 2018 Collection

Glitchy graphics and unexpected detailing add flair to the Tokyo label’s new release.

Young Japanese imprint ALMOSTBLACK reveals its sixth collection, an array of loosely structured monochrome goods upgraded with zippers and graphics. The Tokyo-based brand blends bold imagery with unconventional detailing that takes cues from punk-friendly bondage gear.

A series of graphic T-shirts feature glitched flower imagery, which is also referenced in the striped and plaid patterns adorning oversized shirts and outerwear. Other than the patterns — which add hits of grey and rust — the collection focuses on purely black and white clothing, with pants and outerwear almost entirely black. “PLASTIC” appears on a few items, occasionally stretched out like the aforementioned flowers, while most of the other items are bare, except for zippers that stretch around sleeves and torsos. Belted pants feature zippers along the length of their legs while sweaters and hoodies offer zippers on the shoulders, chest, back and head. Even otherwise understated blazers are undercut by aggressive zipper detailing.

The self-described Post Japonism brand is set to drop the goods within a few months. Keep an eye on ALMOSTBLACK’s website for more information. For more Japanese goods, check out visvim‘s latest accessory — a leather-bound law enforcement whistle.
